PowerTrieve allows non-technical users to write their own reports quickly and easily. By speaking to the system and asking for information, reports will be written and displayed immediately to the user. Access to corporate data has never been easier. Any database (ODBC Compliant) can be language enabled with PowerTrieve. This means that the table and field names have user friendly aliases and reports can be written and modified using natural language commands such as “I need to see the sales dollars also”. This add sales dollars as a column to the report. Users can modify their reports quickly and incrementally. This is no need to switch between ‘Design’ mode and ‘Report’ mode. The system is in both modes at all times. Changes to the reports design are executed in right away. This is a very ‘Ad Hoc’ method of report writing.
PowerTrieve has to ability to access data from many different tables within a database and ‘Join’ those tables together in a report. This is extremely important because non-technical users do not know how join tables to get a more comprehensive view of their data. A good example is a vendor listing that includes total unpaid invoice dollars. The unpaid invoice dollars is not stored in the vendor table, how that field can be added to the report with a simple natural language request and the user doesn’t even need to understand the two tables were Joined to produce the report. |
